He is a writer of warmth, of depth, of passion and of playfulness ... Sixteen poems in English and 21 others as Gaeilge, celebrations of life, love and life’s lovers, all read with meaning and matter by Pearse himself.

Is éagsúil go mór iad na cineálacha filíochta ar an taifead seo – an liric ghonta, an bailéad snoite, an chuimhne mhoiglí, an ráiteas dearfach; ina dhiaidh sin is féidir leis scéal a insint go comair mar atá in ‘Saturnino’, nó fás chun reitrice áille in ‘The Frost is All Over’ nó ‘Dóchas Beag na hEagla’. Ach ar a bhfud go léir tá an cúram do cheird agus d’fhuaim na filíochta, fuaimeanna fileata a dtugtar iomlán a gceart dóibh le guth sainiúil buacach fogharbhinn an fhile.

This is a recording of a selection of Pearse Hutchinson’s poetry. One of the joys of this recording is the resonance and the passion and the gentleness of the poet’s own voice, which is a rich and memorable experience in itself.
