Cló Iar-Chonnacht publishers are delighted to announce two events in Galway and Connemara to celebrate the launch of new translations of Máirtín Ó Cadhain’s classic novel Cré na Cille.
The celebrations will begin in the National University of Ireland, Galway on Friday, 8 April where there will be a one-day conference which is being organised in association with NUIG and will be held in Áras na Gaeilge.
We are delighted to be joined by a team of talented speakers with expertise in various aspects of Máirtín Ó Cadhain’s writing. The programme of discussions taking place during the conference will give an in-depth view into Máirtín Ó Cadhain’s masterpiece of modern Irish literature.
The celebrations will move to Connemara on the evening of the conference to Tigh Ghiblin in an Spidéal, where the film-maker Bob Quinn will launch GRAVEYARD CLAY Cré na Cille, a new translation by Liam Mac Con Iomaire and Tim Robinson of Ó Cadhain’s seminal work. The paperback edition of Alan Titley’s translation of the same novel, THE DIRTY DUST Cré na Cille, will be launched on the night as well. For the first time ever, readers will have the opportunity to see these two very different approaches to translating the same work side by side.
