Saint Patrick’s Day books

Saint Patrick’s Day books Monday, 09th March, 2020

Saint Patrick's Day is celebrated on the 17th March every year all over the world. The patron saint of Ireland, was not actually born in Ireland. It is believed that he was born in an area on the island of Britain known today as Wales in the mid to late 4th century. He was kidnapped as a child by pirates and taken to Ireland as a slave, where he spent many years on Slive Mish tending sheep and pigs. After many years, he escaped and returned to Britain, but he had the intention to return to Ireland and bring Christianity to the Gaels. Many myths and legends have grown up around Saint Patrick's story, it is said that he drove the snakes from Ireland and that he used the symbol of the shamrock to represent the holy trinity. This selection of books retell various elements of Saint Patrick's story for children.
