Cúirt International Festival of Literature has teamed up with Cló Iar-Chonnacht publishers with support from Ealaín na Gaeltachta to host two online writing workshops on the subject of topography. Stories about places and placenames will be the focus of both workshops, one of which will focus on poetry and the other on prose.
The workshops will be held online via Zoom and directed by the award-winning writers Máire Uí Dhufaigh and Micheál Ó Conghaile. The first workshop will focus on poetry and will run on 10 May, 2021 from 19:00 to 21:00. The second workshop will focus on prose and will run on 17 May, 2021 from 19:00 to 21:00. The workshops will be conducted through Irish exclusively and are open to writers who are writing in the Irish-language.
Irish-language writers are invited to submit a sample of their work related to places and placenames (2 - 3 poems, excerpt of prose 1,000 to 2,000 words – fiction or essay – not to exceed 5 pages).
Submissions will be selected and discussed during the workshops to allow for development of works in progress.
