Staggeringly wonderful . . . never have I heard a singer with so many voices. All the renditions being marked with Dara's supreme use of decoration, the variation in which is startling...and the content of the selection is every bit as remarkable as the virtuosity with which it is sung.
- The Living Tradition
...This record is a veritable feast, arguably representing the pinnacle of contemporary Connemara traditional song..

The singing of Dara Bán Mac Donnchadha was known only to his immediate neighbours in Carna until he was ‘discovered' by Raidió na Gaeltachta in 1985. He was immediately recognised as one of the truly great sean-nós singers of our time, a fact endorsed by Joe Éinniú, who claimed Dara was a better singer than himself!
