Con Cassidy was a talented fiddler from near Teileann in southwest Donegal, an area with a historic fiddle tradition. His style was elaborate, delicate and vigorous, making extensive use of finger ornamentation including rolls, cuts, slides, droning, double stopping, pizzicato, grace notes and sharp incidentals. The CD includes tracks originally released on the album The Brass Fiddle (Claddagh Records 1987), as well as recordings made for two RTÉ radio programmes, The Long Note (1983 and 1985) and The Green Groves (1984). The 36 tracks on the album include three tracks recorded with Dermot McLaughlin and one with Altan fiddler Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh. This album was released by Cairdeas na bhFidiléirí.
